Bisbee, Arizona
This now-iconic stone originally came from an open-pit copper mining operation found 1,200 feet within a shaft in an area known as the Lavender Pit in the 1950s. This mine is no longer operational & most pieces are found through old stashes or collections obtained a long time ago. A classic identifiable by its unique smoky to chocolate-brown matrix & range from robin's-egg blue to deep indigo.
